By all means downvote me for this review, and loads of you will because you won't have seen the writing on the wall yet, but don't be surprised if in two or three months you find yourself agreeing with me. It really had to be the expansion to save this game, because it couldn't afford any more screw ups, but barring an absolute miracle at this point in terms of end game content patches and so on, WoW is going to be dead to an awful lot of older players at the very least, and I just can't see the newer players getting to the end game and understanding what the fuss was about with this game for so many years, as it is an absolute shadow of what it once was. This expansion is destined to see subscribers drop off in massive numbers very soon, and I'll be one of them. To reintroduce Dalaran, after an expansion that basically went over old ground in Outland, really hammers home how out of ideas Blizzard seem to be. The story itself is OK, but wow does this feel rehashed. And it's weird, because the game now paints you as a legend, yet you feel more anonymous than ever because of it. It won't just be SLIGHTLY less fun, but massively so. Yes, the levelling experience is masterfully done for what it is, but if you really, really rate it now, do me a favour and go through it again with an alt. It's stupid, and it's tought to get your head around. Suddenly, instead of gathering your ragtag bunch of friends to try and take on the might of Ragnaros or whatever, you actually feel like the dungeon bosses are the underdogs! Being lauded so much has another problem - the willing suspension of disbelief in this universe is now totally gone, because everyone in this universe gets the same treatment as you, so the whole server is filled with people more powerful than the NPCs. that's not what WoW is! So now, raids are 10/20 legendary characters going into battle against one boss or whatever. Yes, I get that a character going through all the experiences it has in the world would be somewhat noteworthy by now, but Legion paints your character as a legend in the universe which all other NPCs revere. The worst part is how it fundamentally fails to understand what drew people in to WoW in the first place. The end game is the standard loot race that every WoW expansion is, with epics and legendaries thrown around like sweets and losing all meaning (remember Thunderfury being the absolute balls back in the day, and an epic was actually EPIC - none of that now.) - but that's not the worst part of Legion.

And sadly, Legion has the pitfalls I expected, and then some. And sadly, Legion I scored this an 8 for the levelling experience a few days into it, and said I would revisit after having time with it.
